Rev. Jimmy (Tim) Lewis, Senior Pastor

Welcome to our world!  We are Tim and Sandra Lewis. The most important thing we can tell you about ourselves is that we are Christians, not in name only, but, we each have a personal relationship with God Almighty, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit lives in us and moves through us.  

As young people we each prayed for God to send the right person into our lives. Little did we know that God intended us for each other as we sat across the aisle in our church.   May 16, 1987, we united in marriage and God has blessed our lives with our 3 children, their 2 spouses and 2 grandsons.  Our daughter Katherine (Katie) Lewis White and her husband, Christian White live in Pittsboro with our 2 grandsons Theodore (Teddy)and Franklin (Frankie).  Our son, Timothy (Tim) Lewis and his wife, Hannah Lewis, live in Bladenboro and if you visit the jobsite, you’ll see Timothy there working.  Our youngest, Rebecca (Becca) is a dental assistant student at FTCC graduating in May 2022.  During the summer and on her school breaks you’ll also see her on the jobsite.  We are thankful for our family.

Tim was called into the ministry in 2012 and obtained his exhorter’s minister license in 2014.  Pastor Tim is an ordained minister in the Church of God based in Cleveland, Tennessee and he received this second level of ministry in 2015. Sandra completed her Bachelor of Science degree in business management at Pembroke State University, now UNCP, in May 1990.  Upon graduation she worked as church secretary for our home church East Lumberton Church of God.  In 1992 she became the assistant director of Child Ministry Center, the daycare owned and operated by the East Lumberton Church and in 1996 Sandra became the director until 1999 when she was blessed to work full-time at United Builders.

October 15, 2017 Tim was requested to preach 3 weeks at the Oakdale Church of God in Fairmont, NC.  That 3 weeks became four years plus and we were blessed to be the pastors and to be used by God in this community. 

January 30, 2022 God directed our steps back home to pastor the East Lumberton Church of God. Both of us were brought to this church as infants by our parents and we have grown up physically and spiritually nurtured by the ministry of the East Lumberton Church of God.   

We are also a general contractor and office manager; partners working together in our family business, United Builders of Lumberton, Inc.  October 1988 Lewis Builders began as Tim stepped out on faith and began his construction business at 26 years old. Through the years Lewis Builders became United Builders of Lumberton, Inc. and God has blessed us to design/build churches in both North Carolina and South Carolina. We are certain God has used the church buildings we have constructed since 1997 to share the message of the gospel and to bring salvation to many people. For all these blessings we humbly say “To God be the Glory.”
